The following graphs will help you determine if the absorber's load capacity vs. RPM curve is a suitable match for the engine to be tested*.

"For better control, the engine being tested should not be at the extreme high or low range of the absorber's capacity."

Important: These curves assume full current flow through the absorber. Lowering the power supply/controller's amperage output reduces the maximums shown accordingly.
*Actual air-cooled eddy current capacities are RPM and absorber temperature dependent. Initial cold rotor torque (foot-pounds) and Hp capacities are approximately twice the hot rotor Hp capacities shown below. Hot readings are after running about 10 minutes, at full load, in a room temperature environment. Continuous ratings will be approximately 50% of these hot values.

Tip: Both hot and cold curves are provided for air-cooled absorbers. The cold numbers are for room temperature and the hot numbers will be reached within about 10 minutes of full capacity operation.

WARNING: These are only the magnetic limits for each absorber. They do not take into account any other mechanical limits imposed by the dynamometer's other driveline hardware.
